Day 1 Thursday. Home – Bucharest
The journey begins with an overnight stay at a hotel in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, also known as the “Paris of the East.” Here you will also find the largest administrative building in the world, the Palace of Parliament.
Day 2 Friday.Bucharest – Giurgiu – Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanassi – Tryavna
Drive from Bucharest to Giurgiu, the border town to Bulgaria, and continue to Veliko Tarnovo. Explore the medieval architecture and culture of the region and visit the beautiful village of Arbanassi. Overnight in Tryavna, a fully preserved medieval town.
Day 3 Saturday. Tryavna – Etara – Sokol-Bojentsi Monastery - Tryavna
Visit Etara, an open-air museum that vividly presents Bulgarian life and craftsmanship in the 19th century. Then continue to Sokol-Bojentsi Monastery, considered one of Bulgaria’s most beautiful monasteries, with its architecture and tranquil surroundings offering a special insight into the country’s religious and cultural traditions. Dinner and overnight in Tryavna.
Day 4 Sunday. Tryavna – Kazanlak – Plovdiv
Drive from Tryavna to Kazanlak to visit the Thracian tombs and the associated museum, providing a fascinating insight into Thracian art and culture. Continue to Plovdiv, one of the oldest cities in Europe, rich in history and cultural landmarks.
Day 5 Monday. Plovdiv – Nessebar – Varna
Travel to the Black Sea town of Nessebar, known for its beautiful beaches and rich medieval heritage. The town features numerous historic churches, narrow streets, and well-preserved buildings, offering both cultural and scenic experiences. Continue to Varna for overnight stay.
Day 6 Tuesday. Varna – Balchik – Varna
Visit Balchik Palace, with its fairytale architecture right on the sea, one of the region’s most popular attractions. The palace once served as the summer residence of Romanian Queen Marie and impresses today with its harmonious combination of architecture and surrounding gardens. Return to Varna in the evening for overnight stay.
Day 7 Wednesday. Varna – Constanta – Bucharest
Visit Constanta, a city on the Black Sea, before returning to Bucharest. Constanta, also known by its ancient Greek name Tomis, is home to the fourth-largest port in Europe, the landmark Casino by the Sea, and the Maritime Museum, which vividly presents the region’s maritime history. The city also features a monument to the Roman emperor, poet, and singer Ovid, who spent his final years in exile in Tomis. The day concludes with a festive dinner and folklore program in Bucharest’s Old Town at the restaurant “Hanu lui Manuc.”
Day 8 Thursday. Bucharest – Home
