Day 1 Thu. Homeland – Ramada

Arrival at Bucharest Airport and welcome by the local tour guide. In the afternoon, you will get to know the capital more closely. You visit the Cathedral of the Salvation of the People, an impressive Romanian-Orthodox church (interior visit). Afterwards, photo stop at the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world. At Revolution Square (Piața Revoluției) you can retrace the events of 1989 firsthand.

Day 2 Fri. Bucharest – Cozia – Sibiu – Bazna

Drive along the Olt Valley through the Red Tower Pass, once the historical border between Transylvania and Wallachia. On the way, stop at Cozia Monastery, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Romania. In the afternoon, you reach Sibiu (Hermannstadt), designated European Capital of Culture in 2007. During a detailed walking tour of the historic centre, you visit the Evangelical Cathedral and the Roman Catholic Church, and you discover the charming squares and alleys of the old town, including the Great and Small Squares and the famous Bridge of Lies. Evening arrival at the spa resort of Bazna.

Day 3 Sat. Bazna – Biertan – Sighisoara – Bazna

Today is dedicated to the culture of the Transylvanian Saxons. The fortified churches of Transylvania are among the best-known historical monuments of the Transylvanian Saxons, and because many of them are better preserved than in other parts of Europe, they are also valuable architectural testimonies of fortified-church construction. After breakfast, we drive first to Biertan (Birthälm), where we visit the largest of all fortified churches. Until the 19th century, it was also the residence of the Evangelical bishops of Transylvania. Next on our visit is Sighisoara (Schäßburg), the most beautiful and best-preserved medieval ensemble in rural Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style in this part of Europe. The high density of architectural monuments—the public buildings, the town walls, defensive towers and dwellings forming a unified complex—gives the citadel the appearance of a unique architectural ensemble of inestimable historical value. Highlights include the Church on the Hill, Dracula’s birthplace, and the former Monastery Church of the Virgin Mary. In the late afternoon, horse-drawn wagon ride to the fortified churches of Boian and Bazna.

Day 4 Sun. Bazna – Mosna – Predeal

In the morning, drive to Mosna (Meschen). Its fortified church is one of the most beautiful in Transylvania. The church features remarkable architectural sculpture, especially the sacristy portal and a very tall sacrament house, said to be the work of a son of the famous Veit Stoss. Continue to Predeal, a mountain resort located on the Wallachian–Transylvanian border and, at 1,040 m, the highest town in Romania. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 Mon. Predeal – Prejmer – Harman – Brasov – Bran – Predeal

In the morning, drive to the Saxon fortified churches of Prejmer (Tartlau) and Harman (Honigberg). These fortified churches served not only for religious purposes but also as a refuge and defensive structure for the local villagers. In the afternoon, walking tour in Brasov. The city was founded in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights and was for centuries an economic and cultural centre of the Transylvanian Saxons, who formed the majority of the population until the 19th century. City tour in the historical centre, where you will see the main sights: the Black Church with its Buchholz organ (exterior visit), the medieval town wall surrounding the historic centre with elegant late-medieval townhouses, the Council Square, the unique Rope Street, the Catherine Gate and the small hidden Orthodox church in the centre. In the afternoon, you reach the romantically situated Bran Castle, residence of Queen Marie of Romania during the interwar period, today a museum, also known as “Dracula’s Castle.”

Day 6 Tue. Predeal – Sinaia – Tulcea

In the morning, visit Sinaia Monastery, founded in the 17th century by monks from the Sinai Peninsula. Afterwards, drive through Wallachia to Tulcea. In the late afternoon, embark on the Danube Delta cruise, accompanied by a romantic dinner on board. During the cruise, visitors can observe the unique flora and fauna of the Delta and enjoy the calm, picturesque landscape that makes this natural area a major destination for nature lovers.

Day 7 Wed. – Tulcea – Constanta – Bucharest

Drive from Tulcea to Constanta, home to the most famous seaside resorts along the Black Sea coast. Walking tour in Constanta, including Ovidius Square and the Orthodox Cathedral. In the afternoon, drive to Bucharest and visit the Village Museum. The day concludes with a festive dinner with folklore program at Hanul lui Manuc Restaurant.

Day 8 Thu. Bucharest – Homeland

Morning at leisure, transfer to the airport, and flight home.
