7 DAYS - TRANSYLVANIA

Arrival at the Romanian airport Bucharest - Otopeni. Reception by the Romanian tour guide and onward journey into the mountains to Timisul de Sus.

 

Today you will visit the “Dracula Castle”, Bran Castle. The secret staircase, through which one can still “escape” today, has a somewhat eerie effect. Then drive via Fagaras  to Agnita , where you can visit the mighty fortified church. In Medias, our next stop, the Protestant Margaret Church, with its beautiful winged altar, will be visited.

 

Today you will spend the day in Sibiu. It's fun to stroll through the medieval-looking center. The pastel-colored houses on the Great Ring with the arcades and the displays of today's shops are pretty to look at. You visit the Protestant town church, today the seat of the Romanian bishops. Lunch is served with a peasant family in the idyllic village of Sibiel. The return journey to Bazna is planned for the late afternoon.

 

From Bazna you drive to the market town of Biertan. Through the weekly and fairground law, the community became the center of the Saxon area in Transylvania. As the bishop's seat of the Transylvanian regional church, one of the most beautiful fortified churches has been built here, in the middle of which there is a late Gothic hall church with a well-preserved star-net vault. We continue to Sighisoara. The most beautiful Transylvanian-Saxon city rises on a wooded hill and is often referred to as Romania's Rothenburg because of the many half-timbered houses. From the Clock Tower you have a breathtaking view of the city. Wine tasting in a winery in Seuca before arrival in Bazna.

 

In the morning, drive over the health resort Sovata towards the Eastern Carpathians. A nice walk is made through the Bicaz gorge to admire the steep cliffs of the gorge. In Lacul Rosu, where we stay overnight, we will take a walk along the “Red Lake”.

 

In the morning, drive via Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc and Sf. Gheorghe to the fortified churches from Prejmer and Harman. We visit these heavily fortified  churches ( the eastern ones from Transylvania) which for centuries defended Brasov  from the raids of the Turks. Then, continue to Brasov to admire the “Black Church” (largest Gothic sacred building between Istanbul and Vienna) and the town hall square.

 

In the morning, drive to Bucharest airport. Farewell to the Romanian tour guide and flight home.
