DANUBE DELTA AND THE BULGARIAN BLACK SEA COAST

 

 

Arrival at Otopeni Airport, Bucharest. Reception by the Romanian tour guide. Drive to the Black Sea coast . Short discovery trip through Mamaia , the largest seaside resort on the Romanian Black Sea coast. Drive north to Tulcea , the gate of the Danube Delta.

 

Morning visit to the Museum of the Danube Delta . Afternoon trip with the catamarans on the Saun lake in the upper Danube Delta. Numerous bird and over 1,200 tree and plant species as well as unique pelican colonies have found their home here. Let yourself be enchanted by an area of almost untouched fauna and flora.

 

Ride with the excursion boat into the Danube Delta. Through the main arm Sulina and then through the channel of mile 36 to the pelican reserve of Lake NebunuThe Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve offers around 325 species of birds in large numbers breeding and feeding grounds. 218 species nest in the Danube Delta, the remaining 109 species are only in transit in the Delta (autumn, winter and spring). The birds of the Danube Delta can be divided into five main groups according to their geographical origin: Mediterranean (gray heron, sickle, pygmy shark, stilt, avocet, rusty goose and pelican), European (reed nightingale, guinea tern, seagull, osprey or sea eagle), Siberian (whooper swan and crane), Mongolian (sucker falcon), Chinese (great egret, mute swan, cormorant and the mandarin duck). Return to Tulcea at noon . Free time in the afternoon. In the evening typical food with fish dishes and white wine on the banks of the Danube.

 

Drive south through the Romanian seaside resorts on the Black Sea coast: Olimp , Neptune , Jupiter , Venus and Saturn , as far as Mangalia , the old Calatis , founded by the Greeks before Christ. After visiting the mosque, which was built by the Turks in the 17th century, continue to Bulgaria . At the Golden Sands you can take a walk on the promenade or take a dip in the hotel pool until dinner.

The morning at leisure on the beach. In the first hours of the afternoon, drive to Cape Kaliakra , the most beautiful peninsula of the Black Sea. Afterwards you can also visit the palace and the garden of the Romanian Queen Maria in Balchik . Return to Golden Sands in the late afternoon.
