Itinerary

DAY 1: FRANKFURT - BUCHAREST - PITESTI

Arrival in the afternoon at Bucharest Airport - Otopeni. Reception by the Romanian tour guide and continuation to Pitesti.
 
DAY 2: PITESTI
Morning visit to the Voinesti fruit growing research station. Here you can get to know the Romanian apple varieties on 670 hectares. In the afternoon visit to the National Tree Industry Institute of Maracineni. Here you can get an idea of the whole fruit production in Romania.
 
DAY 3: PITESTI - SIBIU 
In the morning, a short stop at the Vilcea research station to get to know the various apples and pear varieties that are grown here. Then visit the Cozia Monastery, one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries in Romania (14th century). Afternoon visit to the glass icon museum from Sibiel and then a cheerful dinner at the mountain farmers' home.
 
DAY 4: SIBIU - BISTRITA 
Morning city tour in Sibiu. The Great and small ring, the Bridge of lies, as well as the Protestant cathedral are visited. Then drive north to the Kokeltal. The fortified churches of Medias  and Biertan are visited here. The last is the largest fortified church in Transylvania and was the seat of the evangelical bishops of the province until the end of the 19th century. Afternoon visit to the city of Sighisoara , also known as Romania's Rothenburg. Here you will see the Clock Tower, the birth house of Dracula and the Church on the Hill. Then via Targu Mures  to Bistrita.
 
DAY 5: BISTRITA - CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC
Morning visit to the fruit growing research station in Bistrita. This is known throughout Romania for the plum varieties that are grown here. Then visit the old town of Bistrita. The Protestant church and the guild house can be seen. Then drive through the Tihuta Pass into the northern part of Moldova into the beech forest. In the evening folklore program with Romanian cuisine.
 
DAY 6: CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC - IASI 
In the morning visit to the Voronet Monastery, also called “Sistine Chapel” in Romania. The monastery is known worldwide for its exterior wall paintings. Then visit the Humor monastery, which is very similar to the first one with its exterior wall painting on a red base color. In the evening festive dinner in the R. ”Trei Sarmale” (“Three cabbage rolls”).
 
DAY7: IASI
In the morning visit to the research station for tree management from Iasi. Here you can see the types of fruit that thrive in extremely dry summers. Afternoon visit to the old town of Iasi. The Palace of Culture, the Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as the church “Trei Ierarhi” can be seen. In the evening wine tasting with Romanian cuisine in the R. ”Bolta Rece”.
 
DAY 8: IASI - PREDEAL
Morning drive west. Short stop at the Varatec monastery, where over 1000 nuns and novices live. Then drive through the Bicaz Gorge, past the Red Lake, back to Transylvania. Through the easternmost part of the province, through the Szeklerland, via Brasov one arrives in the southern Carpathians.
 
DAY 9: PREDEAL - BUCHAREST - FRANKFURT
Drive south in the morning. City tour in Bucharest with a visit to the Patriarchal Church (seat of the Orthodox head of Romania), the Palace of the Parliament (second largest building in the world after the Pentagon), as well as the village museum. In the afternoon transfer to the airport, farewell to the tour guide and flight home.
