Day 1 Thu. Home – Bucharest
Arrival at Bucharest Airport, welcome by the local tour guide, and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2 Fri. Bucharest – Sinaia – Predeal
In the morning, drive to Sinaia for an exterior visit of Peleș Castle, the summer residence of the royal family. In 1866, the first king from the Hohenzollern dynasty came to Romania and decided to build a castle in the style of the German Renaissance on the banks of the Peleș Stream in Sinaia, to remind him of his homeland. Not far away is Sinaia Monastery, built by Orthodox monks who came from the Sinai Peninsula. Afterwards, transfer to the hotel in Predeal.
Day 3 Sat. Predeal – Prejmer – Harman – Rasnov – Bran – Predeal
In the morning, depart from Predeal and drive to Prejmer fortified church, an impressive example of Saxon defensive architecture. Explore the massive defensive walls and the historic interior, which brings the region’s history to life. Next, visit Harman fortified church, known for its watchtowers and beautifully preserved medieval architecture, giving a vivid impression of the life and faith of the Transylvanian Saxons. Continue to Râșnov (Rosenau) to visit the Râșnov fortified church and Râșnov Castle, built in 1215 by the Teutonic Knights on a hill about 150 m high. The castle features ten watchtowers, is protected by an earthen wall, and offers panoramic views during a tour. A walk through the gardens of Râșnov Castle is also possible. In the afternoon, visit Bran (Törzburg) and the famous Dracula Castle, a 14th-century towered fortress that served the inhabitants of Kronstadt (Brașov) as protection against the Ottomans. It impresses with its narrow passages, historic rooms, and legendary atmosphere. Return to Predeal in the late afternoon. A day full of history, medieval architecture, and incomparable views of Transylvania.
Day 4 Sun. Predeal – Sibiu – Predeal
Day trip to Sibiu. Hermannstadt is known as a city of culture, shaped by the centuries-old traditions of various peoples, which was one of the main reasons it was named European Capital of Culture in 2007. Most of the city’s buildings, squares, towers, and bastions testify to a history that goes back eight and a half centuries. Highlights include the Large and Small Squares with various merchants’ and craftsmen’s houses, the Brukenthal Palace (exterior visit), the Catholic church from the monarchy period, and the Orthodox Cathedral.
Day 5 Mon. Predeal – Brasov – Predeal
Day trip to Brasov/Kronstadt, founded in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights. Main sights include the Black Church with its Buchholz organ (interior visit), the medieval city wall around the historic old town with stylish late-medieval townhouses, the Council Square, the unique Rope Street, the Catherine Gate, and the small hidden Orthodox church in the city center.
Day 6 Tue. Predeal – Sighisoara – Predeal
Day trip to Sighisoara, the best-preserved inhabited early-medieval town in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The historic center is surrounded by fortifications and towers of the 12th-century Saxon citadel. There is also a small weapons museum and a torture exhibit. You will visit the birthplace of Prince Dracula and the Clock Tower.
Day 7 Wed. Predeal – Bucharest
Drive to Bucharest. The cityscape is characterized by a diverse mix of architectural styles in a compact area. Highlights include the Triumph Arch, Victoriei Street with the Enescu Museum, the former National Theatre, the Athenaeum, the Royal Palace, Kretzulescu Church, Hanul lui Manuc (caravanserai), the Palace of Parliament, the Cathedral of the Salvation of the People (interior visit), the Military Academy, and Cismigiu Park. Visit the Village Museum and the Old Princely Court of Vlad Țepeș in the Old Town. The day concludes with a festive dinner and folklore program at Hanul lui Manuc restaurant.
Day 8 Thu. Bucharest – Home
Return journey home.
