
1st Day Frankfurt-Bukarest-Pitesti;(city tour in Bucharest)
Today we arrive on the airport in Bucharest, at the airport Otopeni, where we meet our local guide. From here we drive towards Bucharest in order to visit the largest city of Romania. We start with the Patriarchal Church, the headquarter of the Romanian Orthodox Church, then we continue with a photo stop in front of the second largest building of the world after the Pentagon, the Palace of the Parliament. Afterwards we visit an open air museum, which is the Village Museum with its farmer houses, wind and water mills coming from allover Romania and we drive along beautiful boulevards, we see the Arch of Triumph, parks and gardens and lots of monuments. All of this made the city famous and known as “Little Paris of the East”. After the city tour we drive towards Pitesti, where we spend the night.
2nd Day Pitesti –Sibiu-Medias;
In the morning we drive towards north. We make a stop at the monastery Cozia, one of the oldest monasteries in Romania and afterwards we drive through the Olt Valley with its beautiful landscapes, through the Red Tower, where the border between Transylvania and Walachia used to be. We arrive in Sibiu, the city which in 2007 was the European Cultural Capital. During tour by foot in Sibiu we see the old city center, together with the Small and Large Square, the Liars Bridge and the Evangelic Church. In the afternoon we arrive in Medias, one of the former seven Saxon fortifications. In this very well preserved town we visit the Margaret church, which houses the largest Wing altar in Romania.
3rd Day Medias –Sighisoara-Gura Humorului;
After breakfast we depart from Medias towards Sighisoara. On our way to Sighisoara we visit the fortified church Biertan, which is the largest fortified church of the country and which used to house the headquarter of the evangelic bishops. Just after our arrival in Sighisoara we can start our city tour in this magnificent fortification, which is very often compared with Salzburg. This beautiful town with its narrow streets takes us back to the Middle Ages. The most important sights of the town are the Clock Tower, the house where Dracula was born and the Curch on The Hill. From here we drive towards Targu Mures and then further to Bistrita. In Bistrita we make also a stop to visit the Evangelic Church. In the afternoon we arrive in Gura Humorului.
4th Day Tour of the monasteries;
In the morning we start with the visit at the Moldovita Monastery, which is very famous for its wall paintings. Here we have the occasion to be introduced into the world of orthodox faith by the Sister Tatijana. Crossing the Mountain Obcina we reach another famous monastery which is the Sucevita Monastery, where we can recognize another wall painting style. In the surroundings it is also situated the Ceramic Center from Marginea, where we can observe how the locals produce the black ceramic. In the afternoon we visit Voronet Monastery, known as the “Sixteen Chapel” of Romania.
5th Day Gura Humorului- Lacul Rosu;
After breakfast we visit the Humor Monastery, a beautiful nun monastery. Afterwards we leave the region of Bukowina and crossing the cities of Suceava and Targu Neamt we reach the Neamt Monastery, which is one of the most important Moldavian Monasteries and which was constructed at the orders of Stefan the Great in commemoration of his victory against the Turks. In the afternoon we arrive in the fairy landscape of Bicaz gorges. Arrival and overnight in Lacu Rosu.
6th Day Lacu Rosu-Brasov-Predeal; ( festive dinner with folklore music at the Cabana Trei Brazi Restaurant)
We drive today through the Carpathian Mountains, through the country of Szekler people crossing the towns of Miercurea Ciuc and Sfantu Gheorghe towards Brasov. Here we tour the town by foot in order to discover the wonderful old Saxon town. We see the old building of the City Hall, the Orthodox Church and the Black Church, the largest gothic building between Vienna and Istanbul. We leave the City of Brasov and we drive to Bran Castle. According to the legend, here lived the prince Dracula. After we visit the Dracula Castle we drive to Predeal, Romania’s highest alpine resort. In the evening we are invited to a festive dinner at the Cabana Trei Brazi Restaurant.
7th Day Predeal-Sinaia-Bucharest; Visit at the Opera
We start in the morning our drive towards the capital city of Romania, Bucharest. We make a stop in Sinaia where we visit the monastery which carries the same name as the small town called also the Perle of the Carpathian Mountains. The monastery was built in the 17th century by the monks from Sinai Peninsula. We drive through the Prahova Valley, where there are situated a lot of resorts. Arrival in Bucharest; In the evening visit at the Romanian Opera.
8th Day Bucharest-Frankfurt
We drive to the airport, farewell to the local guide and flight back home.
