Itinerary

DAY 1: FRANKFURT - BUCHAREST - ROUSSE

Arrival at Bucharest Airport - Otopeni. Reception by the Romanian tour guide and continuation of the journey south. Arrival at the border at Giurgiu, farewell to the Romanian tour guide and on to Bulgaria. Reception by the Bulgarian tour guide and transfer to the hotel.
 
DAY 2: ROUSSE - PLOVDIV
In the morning a short city tour in Rousse, which is also known as Little Vienna. Then drive to Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the second Bulgarian empire. In the old part of the city, on the Carevec hill, you can see the remains of the Tsar's palace (13-14th centuries). Then drive through the Shipka Pass into the Thracian lowlands. Short stop in Shipka to visit the Russian Church. After that, the Thracian tomb with the famous wall paintings in Kazamlak will be seen. Afternoon city tour in the old town of Plovdiv with a visit to the Roman amphitheater and the excavations from the Thracian period. In the evening festive dinner with a folklore program in a typical Bulgarian restaurant.
 
DAY 3: PLOVDIV - MONTANA
In the morning drive towards the capital of Bulgaria. City tour in Sofia with a visit to the Roman excavations, the Russian St. Nicholas Church, the St. Sofia Church, as well as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Then drive to the Rila Monastery, the most beautiful monastery in Bulgaria, with ornate domes and colorful cover paintings. Then drive through the charming valley of the Iskar River to Montana.
 
DAY 4: MONANA - TURNU SEVERIN
In the morning drive towards Vidin. Short stop in Belogradchik. Here you can visit the old fortress. This was already built by the Romans and expanded by the Bysantines and Bulgarians. Then drive to the border in Vidin. Farewell to the Bulgarian tour guide and continue with the ferry across the Danube to Calafat. Arrival in Romania at Calafat in the afternoon, reception by the Romanian tour guide and onward journey to Turnu Severin.
 
DAY 5: TURNU SEVERIN - SIBIU
In the morning a short tour of the Iron Gate Museum. The remains of the Roman bridge over the Danube, built by Apolodorus of Damascus in 102-103 AD, can be seen here. was built, see. Then drive via Targu Jiu to visit the monasteries of Wallachia from Tismana and Horezu. Then the Cozia Monastery (14th century) is visited. This is one of the oldest from Romania and was built by Prince Mircea the Elder. In the evening visit to the glass icon museum from Sibiel followed by a cheerful dinner at home with the mountain farmers.
 
DAY 6: SIBIU - PREDEAL
Morning city tour in Sibiu. The Great and Small ring, the Bridge of Lies, as well as the Evangelical cathedral (seat of the bishops of Romania) are visited. Then drive to Medias to visit the Margaret Church. Here you can see the largest winged altar from Romania. Then the largest fortified church in Eastern Europe will be visited. This is located in Biertan  and was the seat of the evangelical bishops of Transylvania until the end of the 19th century. Afternoon visit to the old town of Sighisoara. This is also known as Romania's Rothenburg. Here you can see the Clock Tower, the house where Prince Dracula was born, as well as the Church on the Hill. Then drive to Predeal.
 
DAY 7: PREDEAL
In the morning drive to Sinaia to visit the monastery (17th century), which was built by the monks from the Sinai Peninsula. After that you can also see the Peles Castle. This was the summer residence of the Romanian royal family of the Hohenzollern. Then drive to Bran . Visit to the castle (13th century), also known as Dracula Castle. Then drive to Brasov. City tour in Brasov with a visit to the Black Church (the largest Gothic religious building in Eastern Europe), the old town hall and the Orthodox church from the old town. In the evening festive dinner with folklore music in the Restaurant “Cabana trei brazi”.
 
DAY 8: PREDEAL - BUCHAREST - FRANKFURT
In the morning drive towards the capital of Romania. City tour in Bucharest with a visit to the Palace of the Parliament (second largest building in the world after the Pentagon), the Patriarchal Church (seat of the Orthodox head of Romania), as well as the Village Museum. Transfer to the airport, farewell to the Romanian tour guide and flight home.
