The city is known as a health resort, ski resort and important mountain tourism locality, in Romania and abroad. At the time, the town is the highest situated city from Romania. Up to First World War, this city was the border area between the Romanian kingdom and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The high-altitude health resort Predeal lays between 1000 and 1159 meters height and is 141 km away from Bucharest. Due to its natural climateric conditions (tonic bioclimate, pure air, very ozoniferous), as well as also due to its services, this city is one of the most important ski resorts from Romania.
