Itinerary

DAY 1: GERMANY - BUCHAREST

Arrival at the airport Otopeni / Bucharest . Reception by the Romanian tour guide. Bucharest is the country's cultural and economic center and the best starting point for a tour of Romania. In the 1930s, Bucharest was also called "Little Paris" of the east because of its wide boulevards and tree-lined streets. During the passage, the  Triumphal Arch , the Royal Castle and the Revolution Square can be seen. Short photo stop at the second largest building in the world, the Parliament Palace .

DAY 2: BUCHAREST - PITESTI - BAZNA
Drive towards the north-west. Stop at the Cozia Monastery , one of the oldest monasteries in Romania. The monastery is an example of well-preserved Wallachian architecture, with Byzantine influence. Continue along the picturesque Olt Valley , through the Red Tower Pass , where the border between Transylvania and Wallachia once was. Arrival in Sibiu, world cultural capital 2007. During a tour through the old city center. Visit to the Great Ring and the Small Ring, the Bridge of Lies and the Protestant parish church . In the evening arrival at the spa town of Bazna.

DAY 3: KOKELTAL
Day trip to the Kokeltal. The fortified churches of Transylvania are among the most famous historical monuments of the Transylvanian Saxons. For the most part, they have been preserved better than in other parts of Europe and are therefore valuable monuments to the general building of fortified churches. After breakfast drive to Biertan to visit the largest of all fortified churches in Transylvania. Until the 19th century, this was also the residence of the evangelical bishops of Transylvania. Continue to Sighisoara, the most beautiful and best preserved medieval building in the rural Gothic Renaissance and Baroque style in this part of Europe. The high density of architectural monuments, public buildings, ramparts, defense towers and apartments give the castle the appearance of a unique, well-assembled complex of buildings of inestimable historical value. You can visit the Church on the Hill, the house where Dracula was born and the church of the former St. Mary's monastery . In the late afternoon ride by horse drawn carriage to the fortified churches of Boian and Bazna. Festive dinner with a folklore program.

4. DAY: BAZNA - PREDEAL
In the morning drive via Agnita  through the Fagaras Land, along the southern Carpathians, to Bran. Visit to the castle. The nested walls with many bay windows and turrets were placed on a rock by German knights in 1377, with a wonderful view of the wooded valley and the surrounding Bucegi Mountains, but at that time mainly served military purposes. The romantically situated castle, residence of the Romanian Queen Maria in the interwar period, is now a museum and is also known as " Dracula Castle ".

DAY 5: CARPATHIANS
Drive to the Saxon fortified churches of Harman and Prejmer . Afternoon city tour in Brasov . The city was founded in the 13th century by the knights of the Teutonic Order and for centuries was an economic and intellectual center of the Transylvanian Saxons. City tour, where you will get to know the most important sights: the Black Church with its Buchholz organ (interior visit), the medieval city wall around the historic old town with stylish late medieval town houses, the town hall square , the unique Rope Street, the Catherine’s Gate and the little hidden Orthodox church out of the center.

DAY 6: PREDEAL - TULCEA
In the morning visit to the Peles Castle , the summer residence of the royal family. In 1866 the first king of the Hohenzollern family came to Romania and decided to have a castle built in the German Renaissance style in Sinaia on the banks of the Peles Bach so that it would remind him of his homeland. Not far away is the Sinaia Monastery , which was built by Orthodox monks who came from the Sinai Peninsula. Then drive through Wallachia to Tulcea .

DAY 7: DANUBE DELTA
In the morning visit to the Museum of the Delta in Tulcea. Ride with the excursion boat on the main Sulina canal to the secondary canals of the Danube Delta. The journey then continues over the canal mile 36 to Lake Nebunu , one of the nature reserves of the Danube Delta. Numerous bird and over 1,200 tree and plant species as well as unique pelican colonies have found their home here.

DAY 8: TULCEA - BUCHAREST - GERMANY
