Day 1 – Thu. Home – Bucharest
Arrival at Bucharest Airport, welcome by the tour guide, and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Romanian dinner with folklore program at Hanul lui Manuc.
Day 2 – Fri. Bucharest – Sinaia – Predeal
After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Bucharest with insights into the architecture and history of Romania’s capital. Then drive into the Carpathians to Sinaia. Visit the Sinaia Monastery, an important spiritual center dating back to the 17th century. Afterwards, visit Peleș Castle – a magnificent royal palace in Neo-Renaissance style, set against an impressive mountain backdrop. Continue to Predeal for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 – Sat. Predeal – Hărman – Brașov – Bran – Predeal
In the morning, drive to Hărman to visit the well-preserved fortified church – an impressive example of Saxon defensive architecture. Continue to Brașov, one of Transylvania’s most beautiful cities. The city tour highlights include: the Catherine Gate, a well-preserved medieval city gate; the Old Town Hall at the picturesque Council Square; and the Black Church – a striking Gothic building with the largest organ in Southeast Europe and a collection of valuable oriental carpets. In the afternoon, visit Bran Castle – dramatically perched on a rock, known as the inspiration for the Dracula legend. The fortress provides fascinating insights into history, myth, and royal living. Return to Predeal for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Sun. Predeal – Sibiu – Bazna
In the morning, drive to Sibiu, European Capital of Culture 2007 and one of the most charming cities in Transylvania. City tour includes the Evangelical Cathedral with its tall tower and valuable frescoes, the Catholic Church, the Large and Small Squares – two historic squares with Baroque and Gothic buildings – and the Liar’s Bridge, one of the oldest cast-iron bridges in Romania, surrounded by legends. In the afternoon, continue to Bazna/Baasen. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Mon. Bazna – Biertan – Sighișoara – Mediaș – Bazna
After breakfast, drive to Biertan to visit the impressive fortified church – a UNESCO World Heritage site and former bishop’s seat of the Transylvanian Saxons. Continue to Sighișoara, one of the last inhabited medieval fortresses in Europe. Visit the Hill Church with valuable Gothic frescoes and the birthplace of Vlad Țepeș, the historical inspiration for the Dracula legend. In the afternoon, return to Bazna and enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride to Boian fortified church – an authentic rural experience.
Day 6 – Tue. Bazna – Cluj Napoca – Oradea – Gyömrő
After breakfast, depart westwards. Stop in Cluj-Napoca, a dynamic university city with a diverse cultural heritage. Highlights include the Gothic St. Michael’s Church and the Matthias Corvinus Monument – a city landmark. Continue to Oradea, known for its elegant Art Nouveau buildings and restored grand avenues reflecting the old monarchy’s charm. Cross the border into Hungary and drive to Gyömrő. En route, visit Hortobágy National Park, Europe’s largest continuous grassland and a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can admire the wide Puszta landscape, experience traditional herding culture, and observe rare bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7 – Wed. Gyömrő – Budapest – Gyömrő
After breakfast, drive to Budapest for a city tour of the Hungarian capital. Visit Heroes’ Square, the magnificent St. Stephen’s Basilica – one of Hungary’s most important churches – and the Fishermen’s Bastion with stunning views of the Parliament and the Danube. Afterwards, enjoy a walk along the elegant Váci Street, the city’s famous shopping street. The afternoon is free to explore the Old Town. Return to Gyömrő in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Thu. Gyömrő – Home
Free time in the morning. Transfer to the airport and return flight home.
