Cross the magnificent Bicaz gorges along the Red Lake. The Bicaz Gorge is an approximately 5 km long gorge that winds its way through the Eastern Carpathians. The Red Lake was formed in 1838 near the pass by a landslide that dammed up the river. (Lacul Rosu) An entire wooded slope slid into the water at that time and the tree trunks still protrude from the water today. The tour continues to Voronet Monastery, also known as Romania's “Sistine Chapel”, which is famous for its blue murals. Then on to Humor Monastery, one of the most interesting and beautiful monasteries of the Middle Ages and an important Orthodox cultural center. Let yourself be enchanted by the medieval paintings.

Day 4 Gura Humorului - Moldovita Monastery - Argel - Bistrita

In the morning you visit the Moldovita Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a Romanian Orthodox women's monastery. In the afternoon we cross the Carpathian Mountains through Pas Tihuta and arrive back in Transylvania. Accommodation and dinner in Bistrita.

Day 5 Free day at disposal

Optional: Bistrita - Viseul de Sus - Bistrita

The whole day is at your disposal.

You can also explore the Carpathian Mountains and opt for a day trip on the traditional steam train called “Mocanitsa” (meals included).

“Mocanita” runs through the last narrow-gauge forest railroad in the world. This gauge type was built in 1932 for the transportation of logs and made it possible to follow the winding course of the river.

On the 21.6 km long route, you can admire the wild beauty of the Carpathians, surrounded by majestic coniferous forests, with rocks shimmering in the clear waters of the rivers and small mountain houses scattered along the valleys.
